LOCAL artiste Kangwa Kapampa better known as Exile relived his fame last Saturday at Lusaka’s Club Marilyn with a combination of his old and new songs.
Exile, who with colleague CQ, before dating the venue, made an appearance at Chilenje’s Cheers Pub the same night, says he is on a mission to promote his music.
He said he wants to build up to the forthcoming album which he is calling Out of Exile in a bid to at launch his new image.
The singer, who has currently proved his worth on a number of collaborations enjoying popularity on local radio stations, is also celebrating his 12th year contribution to the local industry. He is based on the Copperbelt.
“I think I have learnt a lot in the industry and I'm now coming out of exile. I will work with a lot of experience with Ben Blazer, G-Sounds and do a lot more with Showdown studios. I want to put the industry where it really deserves to be,” says Exile, who recently released 7 Days at Runell’s Showdown Studios.
Exile holds the record as the only artiste to have won the Radio Phoenix song of the year award for two consecutive years.
At his well-attended show at Marylyn where he started rather late, a true testimony of how well fans have followed his music was displayed through their unending support and sing-along on popular songs like Kunmvela ni Mvela, So Lucky, Nganalikwebele and Walimbikila Umodzi.
His smooth combination with CQ for their duet, Nganafika completed the performance and proved Exile is geared for a new revolution in the current fast-paced rhythms.
