JOSEPH Tembo scooped this year’s Mr Kabwata in a contest held at Lusaka Playhouse on Saturday after beating four other competitors to the crown.
Reigning Mr Iron Man Sylvester Mwila came second while Chipampe Mwape was third.
In an interview shortly after being crowned winner, Tembo said he would now start focusing on the Mr Zambia title which is slated for October 31.
“My focus is now Mr Zambia, and my fellow bodybuilders should now watch out…I am coming, right now I will just go back to the gym where I need to do some serious work out,” Tembo said.
And Melvin Mweemba defended his title in the Mr Kabwata junior category after beating ten other contestants.
Mweemba said he felt great to have successfully defended his title but acknowledged that the competition was tough.
Tembo won himself K2 million, a decoder courtesy of My TV, a trophy and a certificate, while Mweemba got K1.3 million, a cell phone, a trophy and a certificate.
Meanwhile, sports duty minister Doctor Christopher Kalila has appealed to the corporate World to consider sponsoring other sports disciplines aside from soccer.
Speaking when he officiated at this year’s Mr Kabwata body building competition, Dr Kalila said there was need for the corporate world to sponsor other sports disciplines, particularly those that have proved to be self-reliant.
“I have noticed the development of body building in Lusaka and would like to call on the ZBBF (Zambia Body Building Federation) to come forward to my ministry so that we can see how best we can help the sport.”
“Truly for me this is what I see in International sports, I want to appeal to the corporate world to look at other sports particularly those that have for a long time proved to be self reliant,” Kalila said.
